Mother's Child

It has been quite a while and I had totally forgotten that I had a blog!!! Someone who dearly loves me like a daughter has created this blog for me as a gift from her side. That was almost three years ago!!!
Having been laid off three months back, the life had taken a funnier turn in making me realize so many things during this crucial phase. It was negative response on every front - the companies where I applied for the job, ventures that i planned to start as a consultant etc.. Nothing.... nothing worked. And at this juncture i remembered Kabirji's wonderful lines....
दुःख में सुमिरन सब करे.. सुख में करे ना कोय....
जे सुख में सुमिरन करे तो दुःख काहें को होय!!
In anguish everyone remembers Him... no one does in good times
If He be remembered during the good times.. how can the moments of anguish come!
Yes, this was the sad time for me and how was it possible that i could not think of my Mother?
It was but natural for me to accept the reality and take shelter in the Holy Mother. After all, who else but the Mother pardons and accepts with open heart, the wayward son like me? Indeed, true to my faith and conviction, the Mother accepted me back Home and has been a guiding force eversince.
Mother is truly generous and compassionate to show me the path of devotion and thanks to my brothers and sisters who are also Children of my Mother in encouraging my every forward step.
I took it as my Mother's order to spread Her word around that is what I have been doing for past more than a month. It is all Mother's wish!
Talking about devotion, just today I read few amazing lines on this topic and thought of sharing with the readers of my blog:
(Adapted from Spiritual Titbits from Meditation and Spiritual Life by Swami Yatiswarananda : Page 649 Pub. Ramakrishna Math, Bangalore 1998 5th Ed. )
There are two types of devotees:
The Baby Monkey Types – Clinging to Mother.
No effort on the part of the Mother just the baby clings to her for all that is worth.
Of course extra effort is required by the baby to ensure the “grip” doesn’t lose! and the other type:

The Kitten Type – Leaving everything to the Mother who does all that is necessary for the devotee.
The jaws that can tear apart any creature holds the kitten so delicately and moves around and the kitten “knows” it is “all-safe” in these clutches of death!!!
The kitten-type devotees are comparatively smarter than the baby-monkey-types since all the responsibility is left to the Mother!!!!

And I chose the second path... why to take the burden and strain of clinging to mother like a baby monkey... who knows some distraction and if my grip loosens it wold be nothing but a fatal fall!!!
So, being a kitten let her put me wherever She wills. Now I am Her kitten and the deadliest of the jaw and sharpest teeth is my safest and reassuring shelter. Mother knows the best and Mother does the best!!!
